Requesting new items

Request items for the Library

All staff (and students) are welcome to suggest new items for the library collection – your requests help keep the collection relevant. Requests can be for books, DVDs, magazines, or online resources – whatever you think will be relevant to your students.

Please check first in case we already hold the item, then contact your Liaison Librarian with as much detail about the item as possible (i.e. title, author, edition, publisher, year, ISBN). Make sure you let us know if you require the item by a specific date.

Requests can also be sent to

Tip: The Library is unable to reimburse you if you purchase items for the collection: items must be formally requested.

Decisions on whether items will be purchased depend on a number of factors including the funds available, cost, relevance, and availability. Refer to the Collection Management Guide for more information on selection criteria.

An average order takes six weeks to arrive; orders from overseas take longer and delays can occur. Every effort will be made to reach a target date. Library staff will contact you when the item becomes available.

Need to discuss broader collection needs?

It is very useful if you let us know about new courses, and subjects or areas where you think the library collection needs updating.

Contact your Liaison Librarian for more information.
