The Music Industry Degree Program is made up of three distinct subject areas: Common Core, Major Discipline, and Electives.
Common Core
Our Common Core units offer a fantastic opportunity to gain practical teamwork skills and explore the music industry in a collaborative environment. Each semester, you'll team up with students from different disciplines to create exciting group projects that cover a range of music industry topics. As you work together, you'll develop your professional network and gain valuable insights into the music industry.
Major Discipline
When you enrol in the Music Industry Degree Program, you have the option to select from the following major disciplines: audio production, music business, composition, music production, performance, and songwriting. Our major discipline units are designed to help you hone your craft and become an expert in your chosen area. With a focus on practical, hands-on learning, you'll gain the kind of experience you would expect from a degree solely focused on your discipline. But that's not all – our program also integrates those skills into the wider context of the music industry, giving you a comprehensive understanding of how your talents fit into the bigger picture.
Electives
Our elective units are the perfect way to craft a customized skill set that will set you apart from the competition. With a focus on personalization and flexibility, you'll have the freedom to choose the electives that best fit your interests and career goals. Whether you want to delve deeper into your major discipline or explore new areas, our program has something for you. Our elective units offer a unique opportunity to gain both depth and breadth of knowledge, giving you a well-rounded education that will make you a music industry professional to be reckoned with.
For instance, if you're majoring in performance, you could take an additional sequence of advanced performance electives, as well as electives in film scoring and music business. Or, if you're majoring in music production, you could focus on electives in audio production while also exploring songwriting and music performance. The possibilities are endless, and the end result is a personalized skill set that will set you apart in the competitive music industry.
