Phased Return to Campus Update #6
16 June 2020
We spoke to students who have returned to Box Hill Institute campuses to continue learning the practical components of their courses and here’s some of the things they had to say:
· It's actually nice to see both teachers and students again. It's nice being back in a classroom physically actually seeing stuff rather than doing it online.
· Just being able to catch up with the girls again and also to bounce ideas off each other. I kind of really struggled at home with not having that sort of conversation with people.
· I think personal connections have changed a little bit, just trying to keep your distance and stuff, but we're also really supportive of each other because we're all kind of going through the same thing right now.
· Other schools, universities aren’t going back yet. It's nice that we're able to come back in small amounts, just because our course is so labour intensive.
· I think the Institute has actually reacted really well. They were really quick to react, which is obviously good. This is a good place. It's clean and you know, it's welcoming.

TAFEs are recognised as essential services by the Victorian Government and we continue to offer face-to-face training where necessary, ensuring the provision of hands-on skills-based learning is provided in line with health advice.
All students invited to attend a class on campus undergo a daily screening and must sign a student declaration to ensure the health and safety of all students on campus. If you need to queue to enter campus, we ask that you be patient as the daily screening process is necessary to ensure optimal staff and student safety.
Most staff members and students continue to work remotely, ensuring there are minimal people on campus. Once a class is finished, staff and students are expected to return home.
There has been no reported coronavirus (COVID-19) cases at Box Hill Institute campuses as at 12.30pm, Tuesday 16 June 2020.
