Gender-Based Violence

Gender-based violence is the act of violence toward any individual on the basis of gender. The people most commonly affected by gender-based violence are (cis and trans) women, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people. Gender-based violence includes (but is not limited to) sexually suggestive gestures or comments, intentional misgendering, intentional deadnaming, unwanted physical contact, gender stereotyping, discrimination, and gender inequality.

BHI is actively working to prevent gender-based violence and address gender inequality through the Respect and Equality at TAFE (RET) Project.
