This unit (CST101 Transition to higher education) supports the development of academic skills and aims to assist students understand the expectations required for studying at an undergraduate level. The focus will be upon developing and extending learning, research skills, academic writing and referencing. Learners will be supported to extend their self-directed skills, such as time management and goal setting. Teaching of critical evaluation of literature will include strategies to research key literature, develop literature reviews and analyse authors’ arguments. Students will be encouraged to plan and structure essays with an emphasis on clarity and purpose in their writing.
