We asked. You answered. FREE student parking permits in 2026

    Thursday, 15 January 2026, 2:40 PM

    Student Comms

We know cost-of-living pressures are real, and many of you have told us that parking costs add to the challenge.

We listened to your feedback and are pleased to announce that from 2026, your first parking permit will be free. This is one small way we’re trying to make TAFE a little more affordable.

You’ll still need to pay the usual daily parking fee via the PayStay app or ticket machine when you park at the Elgar, Nelson or Whitehorse campuses, but your first permit is on the house.

We’re committed to finding ways to support you, and this is just one example. Please continue sharing your views as they matter to us.

To learn more, visit the parking information page on Student Web.

Feeling proud of your achievements this year? Then why not nominate yourself for a Student of the Year award!

The awards recognise students who have gone over and above, both inside and outside the classroom. You don’t have to be a ‘straight-A’ student to be recognised. It might mean excelling at work, contributing to the community, or representing TAFE at industry events.

    • Be selected to enter the Victorian Training Awards – earning you industry kudos.

    Improving City Campus Library Services

    Monday, 15 December 2025, 5:05 PM

    Student Comms

To improve student access to library services, we are now partnering with the City of Melbourne Libraries.

    What's changing?

To deliver a better service for students, a selection of our most popular books will be relocated downstairs to the City of Melbourne’s City Library, situated conveniently in the same building, C1. This move not only expands our footprint but also ensures you have weekend access to a broader range of materials.

    How can I borrow?

Borrowing hardcopy materials at City Campus will transition to the public library system. To take full advantage of this new arrangement, you'll need to secure a membership at the City Library.

It's easy—register at City Library or any City of Melbourne Libraries branch https://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/libraries, and you're all set.

You'll also gain access to all the services and collections offered by the public library.

    Additional benefits

Our library study space will remain open for students seeking a quiet learning environment. Our dedicated library team continues to be available for support, both in-person and online.

    Printing services

Please remember, while City of Melbourne Libraries provide printing services, charges apply per sheet. To enjoy free student printing, continue using the Box Hill Institute printers available at the City Campus.

    Tell us what you think

This partnership represents our commitment to enhancing your student experience. We believe it will provide valuable resources and convenience to support your studies. We're eager to hear your feedback as we roll out this new initiative, so let us know your thoughts via Student Web

Thank you for being a part of our learning community.
