Textbooks are important resources for knowledge and skills content in the course, learning activities, tasks and assessments. It is recommended that you obtain a copy of the prescribed textbooks for the course to assist you with your learning. Further recommended texts are optional. Please note that prescribed text books purchased in Phase 1 and 2 will continue to be used in the next phases/semester of study and support you practice development as a graduate nurse.
Important Note: The textbooks in BOLD are the only books you are required to purchase. All other textbooks can be viewed online via an Elsevier: Clinical Key subscription that is included in your course fees.

Online Textbooks and Resources Elsevier Clinical Key for Nursing is your go to place for access to up to date textbooks, journal articles, videos and other resources for your Diploma of Nursing. Access to Clinical Key for Nursing is included in your enrolment.
Please read the user guide in this section to help you set up access. Your username is your Box Hill Institute student email address. On your first log in it will prompt you to set a password.
You will need to be on campus the first time you login to Elsevier. Then you can set up remote access after this.
After you have set up your initial access please also set up Remote access by clicking here on the settings tab. This will allow you to access Clinical Key from Nursing from home or anywhere else

Uniforms
At BHI we pride ourselves on the high standard and professionalism of our Nursing Students. You are expected to wear the Nursing Student uniform to all nursing clinical skills labs and all clinical placements.
We have a specific supplier for student uniforms. Uniforms must be purchased through this supplier. The supplier will have a representative on campus on day 2 of orientation so you can try on sizes.

Nursing Kits
An important part of your Nursing is to develop assessments skills. These will need to be constantly practiced to ensure proficiency and accuracy. You will be provided with a nursing kit as part of your enrolment. This will include:
- Stethoscope
- Blood Pressure Cuff (Sphygmomanometer)
- Nurses Fob watch
- Safety glasses
- Penlight torch
- Scissors
- Carry pouch
