There have been no reported coronavirus (COVID-19) cases at Box Hill Institute campuses as at 2.30pm, Tuesday 14 April 2020.

The situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak continues to evolve.

The Department of Education and Training (DET) has been working with the Chief Health Officer and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to plan for and respond to the impact of coronavirus on Victoria’s TAFE and training system.

Education remains one of the essential reasons that Victorians may leave their premises, and some courses will conduct a small number of classes on campus where necessary, following all of the social distancing directions issued by the Chief Health Officer. Where possible, Box Hill Institute is transitioning to remote or online delivery.

Campus Operations

The City, Whitehorse, Lilydale and Nelson campuses and libraries are closed. The Lilydale Lakeside Childcare Centre and John Street (AMEP) remain open.

The Elgar campus remains open with limited access to the following buildings:

·         E4 – Registrar & Facilities, Student Administration (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

Buildings E1, E2, E5, E7, E8 and E9 are closed.

Services for Students

The Elgar café is closed. Vending machines are available for staff and students who are on campus.

The Enrolment Hub is closed. Students should call (03) 9286 9222 for assistance with enrolment.

Resources for Managing Coronavirus Anxiety

Harvard Medical School’s Harvard Health Blog recently published an article called Coping with coronavirus anxiety recommending yoga, meditation and controlled breathing.

There are a number of online classes in these disciplines and CAE Melbourne is preparing its online offering, which should be available soon. In the meantime, you might take advantage of local business Seed Yoga + Wellness and its offer of 30 days of online yoga for $50.
