ah, the serenity

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience service outages have caused you over the past two weekends. Thank you to all the students who have provided feedback.

We are focused on making sure that in the coming weekends that we do not have a repeat of the service outage.

ITS and BeLS will have staff monitoring the 3 main systems that our students and the public need to access and ensuring they are up and running 24/7

  • BHI Website,
  • StudentWeb and
  • the e-mail service.

 The two issues that impacted over the last two weekends were unrelated

  1. An outage of the data centre. Staff from ITS attended as soon as we received notification and worked on the problem until about 3am on the Monday morning and then all services were restored by about 10AM on Monday morning.
  2. The second issue – last Sunday – was related to the load that was put on the database server running StudentWeb. Services were resumed 7am Monday morning.

 In the medium term ITS  is upgrading the whole server management system to the latest version with the aim of ensuring a much more responsive system and help ensure that the type of issue that occurred at the weekend doesn’t occur again

 We will do everything in our power to ensure that our services are up and running so you are up and running.
