Face-to-face training

The library offers a range of face-to-face training, tailored to your needs.

For students

Library staff can provide short on-the-spot training, or more detailed training by arrangement, in the following topics:

  • using the Library catalogue
  • using databases
  • using StudentWeb
  • Internet searching
  • using Microsoft Office programs
  • the research process
  • using Library equipment

For classes

Teachers can organise training for their classes on a variety of topics. Sessions can be tailored to meet the needs of individual class groups, subjects and assignments. Talk to any Library staff member about sessions in the following:

  • Library tour (fifteen minutes)
  • Library resources: tour, catalogue, databases and referencing (one hour)
  • Research process: information literacy, referencing, catalogue, databases and Internet searching (up to three hours depending upon requirements).

For staff

Library staff can train teachers and support staff on a variety of topics. Training can be provided one-on-one or to groups of staff. Enquire about the following:

  • how the Library can support your teaching
  • individual guidance on research projects
  • using databases and e-books
  • using the Library catalogue
  • Internet searching
  • using Library equipment

Library staff can deliver most of the above sessions via Teams by arrangement.
