Coronavirus Update

There have been no reported coronavirus (COVID-19) cases at Box Hill Institute campuses as at 1:00pm, Thursday 2 April 2020.

The latest Stage 3 restrictions for Victoria have come into effect and this means there are only four reasons to leave your home: food and supplies, medical care, exercise, and work or education. These restrictions will be reviewed after four weeks.

As an education provider, the direction we have received from the Department of Education and Training remains unchanged.

Course Delivery and Assessments

Teachers are in the process of making some changes to their delivery and assessment schedules. Where possible, all theory is being brought forward to create space later in the timetable to complete practical components, where relevant.

Teachers are reviewing practical assessment items to identify those elements students may be able to demonstrate from home and how. Where this is not possible, practical assessments will be scheduled for when classes resume on campus.

Students currently working and being assessed in the workplace will continue to be supported.

If you have concerns or questions about your course while studying remotely, please contact your course coordinator and provide details of your specific questions. Course coordinators will return your enquiry with the information you need.

Building Consolidation

With the beginning of the term break, there has been a significant reduction of staff and students on campus and as a consequence, we are implementing measures to limit access to a certain number of buildings.

Campus Operations

The City, Whitehorse and Nelson campuses and libraries are closed.

The Lilydale Lakeside campus has limited access to LA, while LB and LC are closed. The student library will be open this week from 8.30am to 4.30pm but will close operations from the end of the week, as will the Point of View café.

Library resources are available online through StudentWeb where you can access the online catalogue, renew loans, search databases, borrow eBooks, view videos and much more.

The Lilydale Lakeside Childcare Centre and John Street (AMEP) remain open.

The Elgar campus will remain open with limited access to the following buildings:

•                     E1 – Call Centre

•                     E3 – Student Hub (Library and Student Life, Monday-Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm)

•                     E4 – Registrar & Facilities, Student Administration (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

•                     E7 – AMEP

Buildings E2, E5, E8 and E9 are closed.
