27 April 2020 Coronavirus Update

On Monday 4 May 2020, Box Hill Institute will start a phased return to campus for term 2.

Following the direction of the Victorian Government, all TAFEs continue to operate as an essential service and some teaching areas will gradually return to campus to undertake the practical components of their training and assessments. There are no plans to deliver theory classes on campus at this time.

Phase 1 Return to Campus

For approved classes and services, students will return to campus from Monday 4 May 2020. Students who are not required on campus, should continue to work remotely. Unless you are specifically advised to return to campus, you should not turn up.

Student Commitment

Students who are required to attend class on campus will be notified via their teachers, prior to commencing classes on week beginning Monday 4 May. It is imperative that you understand the Eligibility to Return to Campus and Conditions of Entry. This includes adhering to social distancing requirements, only using prescribed entry/exit points on campus, cleaning requirements and submitting to daily screening procedures.

All students will be required to complete an online Eligibility to Return to Campus declaration confirming that they will abide by the increased COVID-19 measures.

Increased Health and Safety Measures

Upon our return to campus, we must ensure everyone’s safety and measures are being put into place to ensure the ongoing safety while working on campus. These include:

·         Health screening of staff and students as they come onto campus

·         Temperature checking and social distancing awareness

·         Increased cleaning schedules and the wiping of shared surfaces

Social Distancing on Campus

Social distancing on campus is to be adhered to by all people on site at all times. If we are found in breach of social distancing requirements, as an organisation, we face serious legal and financial ramifications. To ensure that we are abiding by the social distancing requirements, the following measures have been put in place:

·         Limiting class sizes to ensure that social distancing requirements can be met

·         Adjusting rooms where required

·         Zoning off common areas

·         Increased signage to support safe practices

·         Limiting the number of people on campus at any given time

·         Ensuring that everyone only remains on campus for the duration of their class
