Phased Return to Campus Update #5

COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease with further easing of restrictions are planned from Monday 22 June. Today, all primary and secondary students returned to their schools to continue their learning face-to-face.

Gradually, more students have been returning to Box Hill Institute campuses to continue learning the practical components of their courses. TAFEs are recognised as essential services by the Victorian Government and we continue to offer face-to-face training where necessary, ensuring the provision of hands-on skills-based learning is provided in line with health advice.

Here’s what it looks like, back on campus.

All students invited to attend a class on campus undergo a daily screening and must sign a student declaration to ensure the health and safety of all students on campus. If you need to queue to enter campus, we ask that you be patient as the daily screening process is necessary to ensure optimal staff and student safety.

Most staff members and students continue to work remotely, ensuring there are minimal people on campus. Once a class is finished, staff and students are expected to return home.

There have been no reported coronavirus (COVID-19) cases at Box Hill Institute campuses as at 12.30pm, Tuesday 9 June 2020.

Experiencing Financial Stress?

The National Debt Helpline (NDH) is a not-for-profit service that helps people in Australia tackle their debt problems. They’re not a lender and they don’t sell anything or make money. Their professional financial counsellors offer a free, independent and confidential service. They’re there to help people get back on track.

Nearly a million Australians have sought advice from the NDH since it was set up in 2011. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there is an increase in the number of people needing our help.

NDH is funded by the Federal Government and the state governments of Victoria and NSW. It is co-ordinated by Financial Counselling Australia, the peak body for financial counsellors. A number of state and territory not-for-profit charities and organisations run the service in each state and territory. They all use the same up-to-date resources and the number is the same, 1800 007 007.

NDH has a very useful website: ndh.org.au, which is for anyone who is worried about how they are going to pay all their bills and manage their debts.
