Feeling stressed? Try these tips

We all feel stressed from time to time. In fact, stress can help motivate us to finish a task or perform well. However, when we become over-stressed, it can interfere with our ability to cope with the demands of daily life.

Being able to manage your stress can increase your self-confidence and knowing that difficult situations can be managed will in turn lead to reduced stress.

Try to identify what situations and events tend to trigger you to feel stressed.

Everyone has dealt with stress throughout life and quite often very successfully. Think back to those times and coping methods that were effectively used.

Work on learning and practicing a range of different stress management techniques that can be used at different times. How do you cope best with stress?

Establish and maintain predictable daily and weekly routines to help manage stress

Seek support from family and friends. Share your thoughts and feelings with others.

Avoid ineffective coping strategies such as use of drugs, alcohol and over-eating as well as denial or avoidance.

Identify every small gain in managing your stress levels and reward every success.
