A social event for our South Asian-Australian community – to acknowledge a very difficult year of sadness and strength.

In recognition of the tremendous suffering and sadness endured this year by those in our community from a South Asian background, Whitehorse Council is hosting an online social event to bring people together. We had hoped to host a face to face gathering with entertainment and catering but, sadly with lock down extended, we’ve had to move to an online format. This is disappointing but it’s still a chance to get together, to acknowledge the difficult times, and to feel a sense of connection and strength.

Council has asked IndianCare to run the event as they have great expertise in this area and we know they will organise a great session. Here are the details:

Please join us for one hour of free activity. Hear from health expert Dr A Sarkar on the topic of “looking after yourself”, connect with community, enjoy a trivia game to get you talking and laughing, and receive a lunch voucher as a thank you for coming!

When - Sunday 26 September from 11am until 12pm

How - Online via Zoom

Your hosts – Whitehorse Council and IndianCare

Language support – The session will be run in English and our presenters also speak Hindi and Punjabi. If you would like support in any other language please let us know when you RSVP.

RSVP – Please contact Sarah via email  sarah.martinelli@whitehorse.vic.gov.au or phone 0466 932 996

The Zoom link will be sent once you have replied to Sarah, and a lunch voucher (from a local Indian restaurant) will be provided via email at the end of the session.
