More Information: Matching speed vs. matching pitch.

"Warping" allows us to have independent control over rhythm and pitch, however only rhythm (or more specifically speed) is automatically adjusted when you bring clips into a session. Clips will not adjust in pitch unless you do so manually, and so importantly they will not necessarily sound cohesive in terms of the notes used. Pitched clips from the browser (i.e. vocals, chords, bass lines and essentially non percussive things) may use different sets of notes that don't always work together. For now, just try to use your ear and search for winning combinations.

Practical task: Adding and arranging clips As per the videos, here's something you should try doing yourself now:
  1. Open a new blank Ableton Live session.
  2. Navigate to the "Loopmasters Mixtape" pack in the browser, and then the "Clips" subfolder.
  3. Explore the subcategories and find some clips you like, then drag them into the arrangement view timeline.
  4. When you need to extend the number of repeats, experiment with using both copy/paste/duplicate and using the looping feature (by dragging from the top right corner of a clip).
  5. Make a basic musical arrangement by mixing and matching different loops across multiple tracks.
