Print resources

The reserve collection contains items that are in high demand. Items may be placed on Reserve by teaching staff to allow greater access to resources.

Reserve collection items may only be used  within the Library for a short loan period (2 hours).

On the catalogue Reserve items will show as being” At the Reserve desk” rather than "On Shelf." You can borrow reserve items via the self check machines and look at them in the Library Study Areas.


E-Reserve

With e-Reserve you can access resources which are in high demand online, such as periodical articles and book chapters. Access is via the catalogue and most eReserve resources are available in PDF format.


How can I find e-Reserve resources?

You can search for eReserve resource by performing an author or title search in the Discovery catalogue (any matching eReserve resources will display with a status of  'e-Reserve'.


How do I access e-Reserve resources?

Due to copyright restrictions, access to e-Reserve resources is restricted to current Box Hill Institute students and staff. After clicking on the link in the catalogue record you will need to log in using your usual StudentWeb ID and password in order to view the item. 


What type of files are e-Reserve resources?

Most articles and some of the linked online database articles are PDF (Portable Document Format) files. You will need Adobe Reader or other pdf viewing software installed on the computer you are using to view the file. The Adobe Reader program is a free download from the Adobe website at: http://get.adobe.com/reader/.


What’s the best way of accessing a large e-Reserve file?

Some of the large e-Reserve PDF files can take a while to download. Once you download the file you want, you can save it to a USB flash drive or print it out.
